Liver-inspecting. See under Persians.[1]
Also [sc. attested is] 'liver-inspecting', [meaning] the dissection of the entrails, by which they used to foretell what would happen; for in dissecting they would observe certain signs in the entrails.[2]
The primary headword "liver" is unglossed. (The SOL headword, mistakenly, is the secondary one, "liver-inspecting".) On the declension of ἦπαρ , see ἦμαρ at eta 283 and σκῶρ at sigma 690.
[1] 'Persians' is a (rare) emendation by Adler for what the mss give as Πέρσῃ , there being no such entry for the latter. However, pi 1367 is not an appropriate cross-reference; see rather (as Adler notes) mu 9.
[2] Perhaps, Adler suggests, from a scholion on Gregory of Nazianzus.
