Headword: Ἠντιβόλει
Adler number: eta,402
Translated headword: was entreating
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he/she/it] was supplicating, was begging, was importuning.
Greek Original:
Ἠντιβόλει: ἱκέτευεν, ἐδεῖτο, ἐλιπάρει.
Note:
The headword is imperfect, third person singular, of ἀντιβολέω (cf. alpha 2655, alpha 2656). Adler suggests that the glossing comes from the scholia on Aristophanes, Knights 667, where it occurs (in the form ἠντεβόλει ); indeed, one such scholion has the first of the Suda's glosses.
