Headword: Ἠμακτέων
Adler number: eta,280
Translated headword: being aggrieved
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[sc. This word occurs] in Herodotus meaning [someone] being angry.
Greek Original:
Ἠμακτέων: παρὰ Ἡροδότῳ ἀντὶ τοῦ δυσφορῶν.
Notes:
Same glossing in ps.-Zonaras, but without mention of Herodotus.
The headword participle does not occur in Herodotus in this form, ἠμακτέων ; rather, the Glosses on Herodotus equate ἠμεκτέων (sic) with δυσφορῶν in what is evidently comment on Herodotus 1.44.2 (where in fact the compound participle περιημεκτέων occurs: web address 1).
For the verb cf. eta 279.
