There were cities called Heliopolis (sic) in Egypt, near present-day Cairo, and in Syria (a.k.a. Colonia Iulia Augusta Felix, Baalbek). 'Helioupolis' was a hellenistic fortress in Attica, on the western slopes of Mt. Hymettos, but it does not seem likely to have generated the present entry.
