Headword: Ἡλίκον
Adler number: eta,228
Translated headword: as great as
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] great, how great.[1]
"Fabius ordered [Marcus] not to exert as much effort to harm the enemy as [he exerted] to prevent [his own forces] from suffering anything disastrous."[2]
Notes:
[1] The headword is neuter nominative/accusative singular of ἡλίκος . Same or similar glossing in other lexica. Properly, ἡλίκον and πηλίκον are correlatives, though in the passage which follows Polybius uses τοιαύτην with ἡλίκην (both in the feminine accusative singular).
