Adler number: eta,160
Translated headword: (even) a mangy she-camel takes up the load of many donkeys

[no gloss]
Greek Original:
Ἡ κάμηλος ψωριῶσα πολλῶν ὄνων ἀνατίθεται φορτία.
Adler cites this from Synesius, Letter 113 (254b), where in fact it is presented as already proverbial.
The paroemiographers who include it do so, as Synesius does, with a καί ('even') omitted here; and they gloss it as applying to the aged or unfortunate who are still in good shape.
For camels see generally kappa 282.
