Headword: Ἤϊα
Adler number: eta,135
Translated headword: I was going
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] I was.
Greek Original:
Ἤϊα: ὑπῆρχον.
Notes:
This trisyllabic form with iota should be the first person singular, imperfect, of εἶμι , not of εἰμί (Smyth §773, p. 212: web address 1). The mistake comes from a scholion on Homer, Iliad 5.808, where ἦα should be read (Homeric text at web address 2). Correct in Hesychius eta247, Photius (Lexicon eta83) and elsewhere.
For the glossing cf. eta 120.
