Headword: *ei)/dw
Adler number: epsiloniota,41
Translated headword: I place
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
The [verb that means] I establish, [with] ei)/sw the future tense.[1]
But ei)/dw [also means] I know; [used] with an accusative.[2]
Greek Original:
*ei)/dw: to\ kti/zw, ei)/sw o( me/llwn. *ei)/dw de\ to\ ginw/skw: ai)tiatikh=|.
Notes:
Cf. post-Suda the scholia of Thomas Magister and Demetrius Triclinius on (?)Aeschylus Prometheus Bound 451, where however the accepted reading is h)=|san rather than ei)=san.
[1] Perhaps this should be i(/zw, which has the aorist ei(=sa: cf. epsiloniota 233, epsiloniota 234, epsiloniota 245, epsiloniota 247.
[2] Adler marks this addendum as an interpolation; this ei)/dw would be either a back-formation for the present tense of ei)=don, oi)=da or else the aorist subjunctive of ei)=don.
