*)egkate/skhyan: e)fw/rmhsan, e)pe/dramon, e)pedra/canto. *ai)gupti/wn kaka/, ta\ e)n th=| *)alecandrei/a| po/lei, e)gkate/skhye kai\ th=| *(rw/mh|. *ou)a/rwn fhsi/n.
Notes:
[1] The headword, which has the same or similar glossing in other lexica (e.g. Hesychius epsilon202), is third person plural, aorist indicative active, of the verb e)gkataskh/ptw. It is evidently quoted from somewhere (other than the quotation given, which has the corresponding third person singular, with neuter plural subject); probably (as Latte on Hesychius suggests) Philo Judaeus, De vita contemplativa 2, its only independent attestation.
[2] Aelian fr. 286 Domingo-Forasté (288 Hercher); cf. lambda 465.
[3] This, also in ps.-Zonaras, is not part of the Aelian fragment. For 'Varro' cf. omicron 767.
