Headword: *)ekkumanqh=nai
Adler number: epsilon,702
Translated headword: to be cast up by the waves
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] to come to anchor in the harbor out of the wave.
Greek Original:
*)ekkumanqh=nai: e)k tou= ku/matos tw=| lime/ni prosormisqh=nai.
Notes:
Same entry is other lexica. The headword is the aorist passive infinitive of e)kkumai/nw. It must be quoted from somewhere; perhaps from its only extant attestation outside lexicography, in Strabo 9.1.21 (the Attic shrine of Aphrodite Kolias is where the debris from the battle of Salamis (480 BCE) was e)kkumanqh=nai) -- though he is an author largely ignored in the Suda (except e.g. under lambda 688.)
cf. kappa 2684.
