Headword: *)ekti=lai
Adler number: epsilon,650
Translated headword: to pluck out
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] to pull away.
Greek Original:
*)ekti=lai: a)pospa/sai.
Notes:
The headword is aorist active infinitive of the verb e)kti/llw. In Hesychius epsilon1720, where it is glossed with e)ktina/cai ('to expel/shake out'), Latte plausibly claims it as quoted from Ecclesiastes 3.2 LXX.
The Suda's gloss a)pospa/sai is not precisely paralleled elsewhere, but Adler compares Theodoret (PG 80.1256) on Psalms 51.7 LXX: the psalm has e)kti/lai (sic) and Theodoret's discursive comment includes the participle a)naspa/sas (sic).
