Adler number: epsilon,649
Translated headword: habitual
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] conditional. Also [sc. attested is] 'habitually', an adverb, [meaning] conditionally.[1]
Greek Original:
*(ektiko/s: sxetiko/s. kai\ *(ektikw=s, e)pi/rrhma, sxetikw=s.
Notes:
Both headword and gloss are derived from a stem of the same verb (present stem vs. aorist stem, respectively), but their attested usage offers little support for the notion that they can be synonymous: see LSJ at web address 1 (e(ktiko/s) and web address 2 (sxetiko/s). In fact, passages like Philo Judaeus, On Allegorical Interpretation 3.210 suggest that the opposite is more common.
cf. sigma 1781.
[1] Same glossing for this adverb in Hesychius (epsilon1719) and other lexica.
