[Meaning] done beforehand, practiced in advance. "But then as if by agreement they stopped and made the conflict in good order."[1]
Notes:
Very similarly (the quotation is foreshortened) in ps.-Zonaras.
The headword phrase is evidently extracted from the quotation given.
[1] [Polybius] fr. 133 Büttner-Wobst -- or rather a fragment of Cassius Dio, corresponding to his 65.11.5. See Favuzzi [cited under alpha 1990] 57. Casaubon attributed this fragment to Polybius (Büttner-Wobst, p. 532), but Büttner-Wobst determined that it was not Polybian (ibid.).
