Adler number: epsilon,2771
Translated headword: I try my hand at you
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
"But [I try my hand at you] always."
Greek Original:
*)epixeirw= soi de\ a)ei/.
Notes:
Comparable entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon (1715).
The equivalent, derivative entry in ps.-Zonaras is combined by Tittman with the preceding one (epsilon 2270) -- as indeed in Suda ms F, Adler reports; and it lacks the Suda's de/) ('but'). Either way, if this whole phrase is a quotation, it is unidentifiable. (But perhaps [DW] it is simply a claim -- not altogether unreasonable: see LSJ -- that this verb regularly takes a dative; cf. beta 169.)
