Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he/she/it] made an attempt.
Greek Original:
*)epeira/sato: a)po/peiran e)poih/sato.
Notes:
The headword is aorist indicative middle, third person singular, of peira/zw (for which cf. e.g. pi 1451). It must be quoted from somewhere. Extant instances are very few, and none pre-dates the Suda.
Adler cites as comparanda two entries in the unedited Ambrosian Lexicon (1645 and 1692), but contrasts a third (1592).
