[2] An approximation of Agathias, Histories 192.21 (5.22 Niebuhr), which has 'the enemy'. According to de Boor, the Suda quotation departs so much from Agathias that a different (unknown) source is likely. If the quote is indeed excerpted from Agathias, then it describes the reaction of the Byzantine military commander Germanus (cf. alpha 4595 and pi 2901) when he receives intelligence in 559 CE that the invading Kotrigur Huns are attempting an amphibious attack on the Thracian Chersonese (the Gallipoli Peninsula nowadays, cf. chi 215); see Frendo (158) and further context at alpha 1017, gamma 304, and kappa 2274.
