Headword: *)epa/nhke
Adler number: epsilon,1966
Translated headword: come back
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] return.
Greek Original:
*)epa/nhke: e)pa/nelqe.
Notes:
The headword is the present imperative (second person singular) of e)panh/kw; the gloss is the corresponding aorist imperative of e)pane/rxomai.
Adler notes the same entry in ps.-Zonaras and (according to her) the Ambrosian Lexicon. One should add that Hesychius epsilon4192 had already presented this headword, with the gloss u(po/streyon. Latte there claims e)pa/nhke as quoted from the Septuagint (Proverbs 3.28), but other possibilities are Euripides, Iphigeneia in Aulis 1628, and Menander, Dyskolos 217 (e)pa/nhk' there).
