Headword: *)epanaba/lesqe
Adler number: epsilon,1953
Translated headword: throw over yourselves
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] wrap around yourselves.[1] You will wrap the men's cloaks around yourselves.[2]
Greek Original:
*)epanaba/lesqe: peristoli/sasqe. i(ma/tia ta)ndrei=a peristoli/sesqe.
Notes:
[1] Both headword and gloss are second person plural aorist middle imperatives.
[2] A rewording of Aristophanes, Ecclesiazusae 275-6 (web address 1), wherein the headword occurs. The entry derives from the scholia to this passage. The switch in this paraphrase to the future indicative (a difference of only one letter, the penultimate vowel, in Greek), is probably a scribal error. There is considerable dissension among the Suda mss as to the reading of the verb in both of its appearances in this entry. Ms A omits this paraphrase altogether.
