Headword: *)egxeirw= e)gw/
Adler number: epsilon,182
Translated headword: I make an attempt myself
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Used] with a dative.[1] But e)gxeiri/zw [means I entrust] someone/something else.
Also [sc. attested is] e)gxeiri/zw [used] with a dative.
Greek Original:
*)egxeirw= e)gw/: dotikh=|. *)egxeiri/zw de\ e(/teron. kai\ *)egxeiri/zw: dotikh=|.
Notes:
A complicated little entry. The first part of it is also in ps.-Zonaras, except for 'with a dative'; so, setting that word aside, the lexicographer seems to be drawing a distinction between the primary headword e)gxeirw= when used absolutely (see LSJ) and e)gxeiri/zw when it takes the accusative (see LSJ). A second contributor, it seems, then adds that the latter verb can also take the dative.
[1] Likewise in other lexica (and syntactical lexica).
