Headword: Ἐνστροβιλήσας
Adler number: epsilon,1445
Translated headword: having rolled (?), having twisted (?)
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
Meaning having crushed (?).
Greek Original:
Ἐνστροβιλήσας: ἀντὶ τοῦ συντρίψας.
Note:
Similarly already in Hesychius epsilon3310: headword there spelled ἐνστροβιλίσας and gloss not but συντρίψας but συστρέψας -- the latter also in Photius, Lexicon epsilon1022. The headword (however spelled) is the aorist active participle, masculine nominative singular, of a verb ἐνστροβιλέω . It is otherwise unattested, but cf. generally στρόβιλος round ball, cyclone, whirling dance, pinecone (sigma 1207).
