Epic aorist subjunctive of e)ne/pw/ e)nne/pw, first person singular. In Homer, this verb is used in the sense "tell, relate"; for the sense "reprove, upbraid," Homer uses e)ni/ptw or e)ni/ssw (cf. epsilon 1349). Later poets use e)ni/spw as a present indicative. See LSJ s.v. e)ne/pw.
The root of e)ne/pw is *sekw- as in Latin insece; a different *sekw- is the base for e(/pomai and Latin sequor.
