In Diogenianus 4.56 and other (later) paroemiographers in a form identical or very similar to this; also Eustathius. LSJ s.v. ko/rudos duly register it as a proverb of the 'in the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king' type (for which cf. generally epsilon 1147, epsilon 1154). Modern editions of Zenobius 3.77 seek to restore a more elaborate, metrical version: "for amongst the unmusical even a lark sings more melodiously than a swan".
