Name of a philosopher, the one also [called] Dog.[1]
"Why should we speak of Diogenes' courage, of Xenocrates' gentleness, of Aristotle's artistic sense, of Theophrastos' gravity, of Zeno's austere and noble ways, of Plato's dignity, of Polemo's self-control? For there is not one of these men who, despite being good in all respects, nevertheless differed completely from his neighbor."[2]
An epigram is also reported about him: "Hey, Diogenes, tell [us], what fate took you to Hades?' 'A dog's bite took me'". But the epigram abridges [the expression].[3]

[2] Quotation unidentifiable. For Xenocrates see xi 42; for Aristotle alpha 3929; for Theophrastus theta 199 (55 FHS&G); for Zeno zeta 79; for Plato pi 1707; for Polemo pi 1887. The Greek idiom uses a double negative, but the point must be that these famous philosophers are human beings like everyone else.
