Adler number: chi,107
Translated headword: gracefully-working
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] she who is making things with grace bestowed upon them.
"Retiring from his craft [the man] dedicated these to gracefully-working Athena."[1]
Greek Original:
*xariergo/s: h( kexaritwme/na e)rgazome/nh. a(\ dh\ xarierga=| *)aqa/na| e)k te/xnas qh/kato pauo/menos.
Notes:
The headword adjective is attested only in this Suda entry and the epigram which has evidently given rise to it, where the dative singular occurs: see next note.
[1] An approximation of Greek Anthology 6.205.9-10 (Leonidas of Tarentum): besides omitting 'the man', the Suda presents the dative adjective as xarierga=|, instead of xariergw=|. Also see Gow and Page (vol. I, 109); (vol. II, 316-319); and other extracts from this epigram at alpha 1748, alpha 3875, epsilon 3419, pi 938, rho 169, and tau 1102.
