Headword: *bwmo/n
Adler number: beta,491
Translated headword: bomos, bomon
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning what] Laconians [call] raisin(s) [stapis].
Greek Original:
*bwmo/n: stapi/da *la/kwnes.
Notes:
Also in Photius. The headword, otherwise unattested, is ignored by LSJ.
The gloss stapi/da (also in Photius s.v., but obelized there by Theodoridis), here translated "raisin[s]" is evidently equivalent to a)stafi/da, accusative of a)stafi/s (alpha 4223): 'dried grapes, raisins', LSJ. (Post-Suda, stapi/s in the sense of a)stafi/s occurs in the 11th.-century ecclesiastical writer Nikon of the Black Mountain.)
