[1] Greek Anthology 6.286.1-2 (Leonidas of Tarentum), three girls dedicate their embroidered work to Artemis; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 120), (vol. II, 349-350), and these lines again, identically abridged, at pi 910. "Bittion", here and again in 6.187, appears to be the name of a woman; confusingly, she has a friend named "Bitie". Commenting on these names, which are confined only to this epigram and to Antipater's emulation of it (Greek Anthology 6.287; cf. pi 910), Gow and Page find the third girl's name, "Antianeira", to "consort oddly" with the other two (vol. II, 349). They see this as indicating that the epigrammatist did not select the names at random and that the dedication is most likely genuine (ibid.).
