Translated headword: babakinos, bakinon
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
A kind of pot.
Greek Original:
*baba/kinos: ei)=dos xu/tras.
Notes:
Same entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon (19). A very similar one in Hesychius (beta4) presents this word as baba/kinon, i.e. either a neuter variant to the (presumably) masculine/feminine nominative singular of the Suda's headword, or the accusative case of the same word.
If Latte's restoration is correct, Hesychius also registers a second form of the word: ba/kinon, which Latte (1.501) associates with bacchinon, attested for the name of a vessel (similar to a patera) in Late Latin, and (allegedly) persisting in the Italian bacino ('basin').
