Proper name.
Greek Original:
*baqa/lh: o)/noma ku/rion.
Notes:
Same entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon (191). But she omits to mention Hesychius s.v., more helpful because his two-part gloss is krh/nh ("a spring") and *)ameri/as.
If the latter is to be construed as "of Ameria" (i.e. genitive case), note that two places called Ameria are attested: one in central Italy (Barrington Atlas map 42 grid C3), one in Cappadocia = present-day northern Turkey (map 87 grid B4). However, more probably 'Amerias' is nominative, indicating that Hesychius is citing here (as he does elsewhere) the Hellenistic-period grammarian A. of Macedon; cf. under delta 589.
