Variant reading for the enigmatic utterance of Triballos in Aristophanes, Birds 1615 (web address 1), with comments from the scholia thereto. Other variants include babai/ satreu=, mabaisatreu=, nabaisatreu=. Following L. Bayard, RPh 44 (1920) 30, Dunbar (below) prints na *baisatreu, which Bayard interprets as "yes, Peisetairos", but she notes (pp. 724-5) two other possibilities: that Baisatreu is the name of a barbarian god or that the whole phrase is deliberate gibberish.
