Proper name.
Greek Original:
*ai)/ac: o)/noma ku/rion.
Note:
Same entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon (4); and cf. also ps.-Zonaras alpha64.15-16. The name is presumably that of two Greek heroes in the epic cycle: the son of Telamon and the son of Oileus. See Perseus Encyclopedia entry at web address 1, and OCD(4) p.46, under 'Aias'. These lexicographers' 'Aiax', otherwise unattested, is a transliteration from Latin.
