Proper name.
Greek Original:
*ai)/ginqos: o)/noma ku/rion.
Notes:
Aiginos in one group of manuscripts, Adler reports; but either way, attested as such only in lexicography. (A mistake for Aigisthos [alphaiota 62]? Possibly, though ps.-Zonaras has them both.)
Dionysius the Periegete, Ixeutikon (paraphrase) 1.12 and 3.13, mentions a lower-case aiginthos -- in LSJ under aigithos, one of its variants -- which is obviously a small bird of some kind, perhaps a linnet.
