Headword: Αἰθαλείδης
Adler number: alphaiota,107
Translated headword: Aithalidian, Aethalidian
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
Aithaleidai is a deme of the Leontid tribe [sc. in Athens], and its tribesman[1] [is an] Aithaleides.
Greek Original:
Αἰθαλείδης: δῆμός ἐστιν Αἰθαλεῖδαι τῆς Λεοντίδος φυλῆς, ἧς ὁ φυλέτης Αἰθαλείδης.
Notes:
From Harpokration (and Photius) s.v.
The Suda spells both the deme-name and the associated demotic with "ei" (Αἰθαλείδης ), although the more authentic spelling seems to be with "i" (Αἰθαλίδης ).
[1] A mistake (not made by Harpokration) for "demesman".
