Headword: *)akra/tista
Adler number: alpha,961
Translated headword: breakfast
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning a] meal/snack [of that name].
Greek Original:
*)akra/tista: e)/mbrwma.
Notes:
= Synagoge alpha719. In the Synagoge and Suda mss this headword is transmitted as a)kra/tista (printed by Adler) or in one instance, and unalphabetically, kra/tisma. The latter is not a word at all; the former, is neuter plural of the adjective a)kra/tistos ("breakfast-less"; cf. Theocritus 1.51); but either version is one letter away from what is probably the authentic headword, which can be found, with this same gloss, in Photius alpha837 -- the neuter noun a)kra/tisma (which is also the accepted reading in Bachmann's edition of Synagoge codex B).
cf. generally alpha 960.
