Headword: *)aqe/miton
Adler number: alpha,715
Translated headword: lawless
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] that which is unjust.[1]
Also [sc. attested is the superlative] a)qemito/taton; (?)spelled in two ways.[2]
Greek Original:
*)aqe/miton: to\ a)/dikon. kai\ *)aqemito/taton: diforei=tai.
Notes:
[1] cf. generally alpha 715. The present headword, neuter nominative/accusative singular, is presumably quoted from somewhere; there are numerous possibilities.
[2] On this verb, diforei=tai, 13 times altogether in the Suda, see under alpha 297 and alpha 337. Sometimes its import is clear, but not always so. In the present instance, two *meanings* of the superlative form of this adjective are hard to see (a distinction between "most x" and "very x" is unlikely to be at issue). Probably, therefore, the point is that the stem of this adjective -- in all its forms, not just the superlative -- can be either athemit- or athemist-. Alternatively, it is matter of omicron (as here) or omega as the fourth syllable in the comparative and superlative degrees.
