Headword: Ἀϊδές
Adler number: alpha,670
Translated headword: unseen
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] that which is incomprehensible.
Greek Original:
Ἀϊδές: τὸ ἀκατάληπτον.
Note:
Same entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon. The headword, neuter nominative/accusative singular of this adjective (see LSJ s.v. ἀϊδής ), is evidently quoted from somewhere; perhaps Hesiod, Shield 477 (of the swollen R. Anauros obliterating the tomb of Kyknos), though the glossing might be better suited to one of the instances in Plato.
