Vararanes V Gororanes), who went to war against Rome in 421, but negotiated a peace agreement in 422 after several significant military engagements. A later war (440-441) between the Romans and the Persians ended without any major battles having been initiated;
Procopius evidently confuses the two conflicts here (see Kaldellis (6 note 11)).
