[Meaning the same as] a)delfo/s; but a)delfidou=s [is] first cousin.[1]
And [sc. the accusative is] to\n a)delfidou=n.
Also [sc. attested is the cognate verb] a)delfi/zein, meaning "to call [someone] brother". Isocrates and Hecataeus the Milesian and Apollophanes used [it] in this way.[2]
And in the feminine [there is also attested] th\n a)delfidh=n, h( a)delfidh=, th=s a)delfidh=s.[3]
[Note] that 'Alyattes the king of the Lydians dishonored his own sister'.[4]
Greek Original:

Notes:
The headword is the epic/Ionic form of the first gloss.
[1] On father's or mother's side both, apparently (cf. e.g. Herodotus 1.65 and 4.67); see LSJ s.v. a)delfidou=s.
[2] Isocrates 19.30; Hecataeus FGrH 1 F8; Apollophanes fr.4 Kock and Kassel-Austin (but note that Harpokration, the Suda's source here, says "Strattis or Apollonophanes").
[3] (A marginal addition in ms. A.) These forms are accusative, nominative and genitive of the noun meaning 'niece' (daughter of a brother or sister).
[4] o(/ti following = alpha 1423. (It is omitted in mss. GIT.) This statement (and alpha 1423) seems to be a conflation of information from the historian Nicolaus of Damascus. It was Sadyattes (father of our Alyattes) who dishonored his own sister -- or more probably niece: see under alpha 1423.
