Ἀπογινώσκω: γενικῇ καὶ αἰτιατικῇ, τὸ παραδίδωμι. ὡς, ἀπογνοὺς τὰ τῶν Καρχηδονίων πράγματα ὁ Φαίδων. καὶ, τέλεον ἀπογνοὺς τὸν Φιλήμονα. καὶ, ἀπογνόντες τῆς σωτηρίας.

[1] Cassius Dio 21.71.2 (where we see that "Phaidon" should be Phameas; cf. phi 62).
[2] Quotation unidentifiable.
[3] There are several possibilities for the source of this quotation, the likeliest of which is the full version of the proverb given in the Suda at tau 16: Zenobius 6.16, quoting Dicaearchus, includes this phrase.
