The headword, presumably extracted from the first quotation given, is neuter plural of this adjective.
[1] Agathias, Histories 1.4, on the Merovingian king of Reims, Theudebert (cf. theta 299) in fact, not on his father Theodoric (cf. tau 745). The quotation is a misleading amalgamation of two quite distinct episodes concerning Theudebert. Upon succeeding to his father's throne in 534 CE, Theudebert did subdue a number of neighboring tribes. What he found intolerable later on were Justinian's edicts in which the emperor proclaimed himself to be the king of the Franks, the Alamanni, etc.; cf. Frendo (12).
