Headword: *)anaxa/skei
Adler number: alpha,2131
Translated headword: is gaping wide
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[That] which we [say] was gaping wide.
Greek Original:
*)anaxa/skei: o(\ h(mei=s a)ne/xasken.
Note:
Same entry -- though the headword there appears as an infinitive -- in Photius, Lexicon alpha1722 Theodoridis. Photius and other lexica (but not the Suda) have an entry for a)/gxaske, attributing it to Pherekrates the comic poet (phi 212), and glossing it with a)na/xaske (imperative); perhaps the Suda has followed Photius in confusing two entries.
