Adler number: alpha,1935
Translated headword: having reviewed, having recovered
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he] having pondered, thought over.[1]
"He having reviewed the letter."[2]
Also [sc. attested is] ἀναλεξαμένων , [meaning] they having gathered themselves together.[3]
"With the Carthaginians scarcely having recovered from the shock, a lone man named Blanon sent out his own voice from the crowd and spoke."[4]
And again: "and [Severus] shut up the monument of Alexander [the Great], so that no one could any longer either see his body or review what things were written in those places."[5]
Notes:
[1] The headword is aorist middle participle, nominative masculine singular, of ἀναλέγω (cf. alpha 1934); presumably from the quotation which follows.
[2] Short though it is, this quotation is reasonably identified by C. Theodoridis in his Photius edition (vol.II p.XCII) as Procopius, History of the Wars of Justinian 7.22.17.
[3] Genitive plural of the same participle, presumably from the quotation which follows.
[4] Diodorus Siculus 32.6.3 (where the name is Blannon - and Appian has Bannon); again at beta 320.
[5] Cassius Dio 75.13.2; again at sigma 182. For Alexander, see alpha 1121.
