[Meaning they who are] conveying. For an a)/mpron is a sort of rope, with which they usually drag or convey large loads. But a)mpreu/ein ["to haul"] [is] properly to convey with a wagon, but through a misuse of language is also applied to beasts of burden.[1]
Or a)mpreu/ein, [sc. meaning] to assist the yoke [of draught-animals] dragging [the load]. Also a)/mpron, [sc. meaning] a rope, which they stretch across the yokes and [thereby] carry the load on a wagon, so that it is dragged equally from the yokes; being a kind of a)/mperon, the restraint stretched across the yoke.
Also [sc. attested is the phrase] "we will haul without a mule"; meaning we will drag the timber [or: wagon] without a donkey.[2]
