[1] According to the etymology suggested in LSJ s.v. (web address 1), precisely the opposite is the case: the hour at which animals are milked. The remaining two etymologies are fanciful. In fact, if the initial alpha and the inflectional ending are removed, it becomes apparent that the resultant -molg- is cognate in Indo-European with English "milk."
