Ἅμιλλα: ἀνταγώνισμα, φιλονεικία, ἐξίσωσις. καί ποτε ἀγῶνα ἐπιτελοῦντες τούτω τὼ μειρακίω, ἐς ἅμιλλαν ἀκοντίσεως ἀποδυσαμένω, εἶτα μέντοι τῆς σπουδῆς θερμότερον ὑπεπλήσθησαν: καί πως ὁ Ἀργέου υἱὸς ἀλλαχόσε βουλόμενος βαλεῖν τἀδελφοῦ δυστυχῶς τῶν στέρνων τυγχάνει καὶ ἀναιρεῖ αὐτόν.
