Whether the headword is or can be disparaging ("stay-at-home"), as the gloss can sometimes be (see LSJ s.v. oi)kouro/s), is not clear. (The gloss has its own entry at omicroniota 80.) Note however Hesychius alpha3284, where a)lu/doimon is glossed pikro/n, para *Sw/froni = Sophron fr. 139 Kaibel, now 132 K.-A. Kaibel had wished to emend oi)kouro/s to oi)ktros ('piteous').
