Meaning really.[1]
They think it right to give the first [syllable] an acute accent, when what is said in a question means [something like] this, such as "really, truly."[2]
"Truly, o child of the rustic goddess?" Aeschylus says to Euripides, "do you [call] me these things, o gossip-collector, and beggar-maker, and rag-stitcher?"[3]
But "truth" [is] the opposite of falsehood.[4]
"Truth is the leader of both divine and human things."[5]

Notes:
[1] From the scholia to Aristophanes, Frogs 840; see further below.
[2] cf. Photius (Lexicon pi935 Theodoridis) and elsewhere. On the shift of accent to the first syllable, see LSJ s.v. A.III.2.
[3] Aristophanes, Frogs 840-842 (web address 1); cf. sigma 1153, rho 28.
[4] Also in ps.-Zonaras. This sentence returns to the normal accentuation of the adjective, on the final syllable.
[5] Perhaps Damascius (so Adler: Life of Isidore fr. 69a Zintzen); cf. in any event Plato, Laws 730B-C, "Truth heads the list of all things good, for gods and men alike" (tr. T.J. Saunders). Zintzen suggests that Isidore or Damascius may have been imitating this passage, and notes a similarity with fr. 69 (alpha 834). He also compares Iamblichus, Protrepticus 94.8.
