[1] In NE Sicily; present-day Taormina. Perhaps best-known for being the birthplace of the historian Timaeus (tau 602).
[2] (i.e. the ethnikon of it.) The Suda's *tauromenei/ths (here and elsewhere) should more authentically be *tauromeni/tas; and an alternative found (in Diodorus) is Tauromenios.
