The headword, found only here, is a Greek form of the Latin campidoctor, one who exercised soldiers on the Campus Martius (Vegetius etc.: see Lewis & Short s.v.). Alternatively, E.A. Sophocles' Lexicon suggests campiductor, meaning o(dhgo/s. The usual Greek transliteration is kampidou/ktwr, but the related noun kampidikto/ria, a neuter plural, occurs in Constantine Porphyrogenitus, De cerimoniis.
