Adler number: epsilon,2035
Translated headword: scoffed at

[Meaning he/she/it] mocked, ridiculed.[1] "He scoffed at them for their imprudence."[2]
Greek Original:
*)epekerto/mhsen: e)xleu/asen, e)/skwyen. o( de\ e)pekerto/mhsen au)tou\s th=s a)bouli/as.
Notes:
[1] For the verb cf. epsilon 2364. This is its aorist, third person singular, presumably extracted from the quotation given (but note also Herodotus 8.92.2).
[2] An approximation of Agathias, Histories 192.21 (5.22 Niebuhr), which has 'the enemy'. According to de Boor, the Suda quotation departs so much from Agathias that a different (unknown) source is likely.
