[1] The headword adjective (already upsilon 697), here in the nominative plural, is evidently quoted from somewhere. Same glossing in other lexica (references at Photius upsilon310 Theodoridis); and Adler compares ('cf.') a scholion on Gregory of Nazianzus (see bibliography below). Gregory uses the phrase dia\ probo/lwn kai\ u(fa/lwn ei)s o(/rmon e)pei/gesqai in his first Oration Against the emperor Julian (PG 35.657.42-43).
